My Colortopia: Part 2

 A couple of weeks ago, I introduced a fun new gadget to ya'll- the My Colortopia webpage! Glidden has developed this online tool as a resource for all of us paint obsessed gals and guys who need a little inspiration when it comes to color. Previously, I shared the "My Life, My Colors" quiz, which helps you find general color schemes you may like based upon your personality. But there's actually a tool that I love even more... the "My Image Inspiration" tool!

In addition to browsing the site's inspiration gallery, you can actually upload a picture of something you'd like to use in a room... fabric, a piece of art, furniture... and it will generate an instant gallery of coordinating colors and schemes that you can use!

 Here's an image I pulled into the tool- a piece of fun fabric from Tonic Living. I've always loved pairing bold colors and patterns like this but often have a difficult time finding what neutral, more subtle coordinating colors to use along with the bold prints.

 

 I simply plugged in the fabric bu uploading it to My Image Inspiration and....

 How great are the coordinating color recommendations? I wouldn't have thought about the sage and cucumber color palette on the top right, but they look great with the deep raspberry!

It's really that simple. Plug in your image and get inspired.

My Colortopia

I don't know about you, but I draw my color inspiration from a lot of sources. I'll save items on my Pinterest account, tear pages out of magazines and sometimes set aside photos I've taken of nature or other inspiring images. Oh, and, of course, I can spend hours upon hours in the paint department at my local hardware store. There are just so many options!

Today, I'm really excited to share a new color design tool with you... it's called My Colortopia. Essentially, it's an online destination for all of us color-obsessed kids to spend some time chatting and learning about color. There are some amazing design bloggers (like Ana White, Kate from Centsational Girl, Nicole from Making It Lovely and Stefanie from Brooklyn Limestone to name a few!) who stop by the website every once in awhile with hints, tips and advice about color, inspiration and all things paint.

There are also a couple of fun tools over on My Colortopia, which you can find here. One of the tools on the website is a quiz, of sorts, that can point you in the direction of fun colors that might work for you and in your home! How cool is that? Cooler than a polar bear's toenails. What's even cooler is that the folks over at My Colortopia let me bring the quiz right here to you on Ten June!
